Day 1 CPT Policy at Campbellsville University
Graduate CPT Guidelines:
At Campbellsville University (CU), Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an integral part of the Graduate Business Programs, designed to provide students with real-world experience relevant to their field of study. Eligible students can participate in CPT from their first semester, provided they have completed one full academic year of study in the U.S. This aligns with the federal regulation 8CFR 214.2(f)(10), which stipulates that practical training may be authorized for F-1 students who have been lawfully enrolled for one full academic year. The university's Graduate Business Programs emphasize the importance of work experience and even require students to enroll in the BA 500 Experiential Learning course every semester. This course can be completed based on either employment or research, making CPT an essential part of the curriculum. There is no set limit on the amount of CPT a student may engage in at CU, but it's important to note that students who have received one year or more of full-time CPT become ineligible for post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Remember: You are not enrolled in order to support employment. If there is a conflict between your education and your employment, your education must always come first.
Kindly be aware: For newcomers on an F-1 visa who haven't maintained F-1 status in the U.S. for at least one academic year, Day 1 CPT is exclusively available in the PMBA and MS Information Technology Management programs.
There’s no extra charge for CPT at Campbellsville University.

International students in the Campbellsville University Graduate Program are required to take three courses per semester. Each academic year consists of three (3) semesters: fall, spring, and summer. Two courses each semester focus on specific course content, and the third class includes an applied learning practicum (CPT course) in which students apply what they have learned in the other two courses to real-world situations through work or internship experience. The two main courses include one 3-credit hybrid course and one 3-credit online course. The hybrid course spans 16 weeks (or two terms) and features an intensive in-person weekend session that takes place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Failure to attend this in-person session will result in the loss of F1 student status.
CPT is an integral part of the program curriculum.
