🧭 Day 1 CPT Policy at Indiana Wesleyan University
To help students better acquire practical knowledge, Indiana Wesleyan University allows international graduate students to apply for CPT for internships related to their field of study starting from their first semester, in accordance with the regulations set by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This policy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their chosen profession, enhancing their educational journey and preparing them for future career opportunities. The CPT program is an integral part of the curriculum, enabling students to integrate classroom learning with real-world work experience.
- Students can apply for CPT at any time during the program.
- Students at IWU can have multiple CPT jobs simultaneously, but students must demonstrate how the 2nd position meets curricular areas from their major that the 1st position does not.
- The required documents for a CPT application include the CPT application form, an offer letter, and a co-op form signed by the employer.
- Students can continuously use CPT throughout the program without any gaps.
- Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is essential for students. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your CPT.

IWU has three semesters each academic year: Fall, Winter, and Summer. Each semester is divided into two 8-week sessions. Students must enroll in one course for each session, totaling two courses per semester, with one course delivered entirely online and the other in a hybrid format. Students have the option to request an additional subject. IWU does not permit vacations.
Onsite Frequency: Master's students attend onsite classes once per academic term, totaling three times per calendar year. Onsite classes are held on Friday and Saturday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM at Merrillville, IN Education Center. The first residency may also include Thursday afternoon.

Graduate (master-level) tuition for international students are billed at $499/credit

F1 transfer students (F1/OPT/CPT): 4 weeks before the first day of the term.
Others: 3 months before the first day of the term.

How many credits can be transferred from other universities?

As of 11/25/2024 all students must have an active payment plan in place via the IWU contracted provider. IWU is seeking to end this process for Winter 2025. If the payment plan requirement is dropped, then students would be able to make monthly payments.
