🧭 CPT Policy at Bay Atlantic University
Bay Atlantic University follows USCIS regulations to offer Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to international students. Eligible students may receive CPT authorization from the very first day of their program. CPT authorization must be renewed each term.
CPT is an essential part of the academic experience and is required for graduation. Most master’s degree programs at BAU include a mandatory internship component. All students must complete CAPS 623: Virtual Internship, a for-credit, graded course that upholds both academic and professional standards. To satisfy this requirement, students engage in a part-time internship during their final semester, coordinated through hosting companies provided by the university’s official partners. Externships or independent work experiences outside this arrangement do not fulfill the CAPS 623 requirement, but students are welcome to pursue additional internships throughout their studies to further enhance their career readiness.
To qualify for CPT authorization, students must secure employment directly related to their field of study before applying. Students must remain in good academic standing. CPT must be an integral part of the academic program and tied to a specific course. Students must also obtain an endorsement from their Designated School Official (DSO) on the Form I-20 and may not begin CPT before the official start date listed on the form.

The hybrid course includes required on-site instruction, while the online course offers flexibility for students managing both academic and professional commitments.
