Reminder
The term “Day 1 CPT universities” generally refers to institutions that allow eligible international students to apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) beginning in their first semester of study, provided that the program includes an integrated practical component. While some schools may support early CPT access, approval is not guaranteed on the first day and depends on the timely and accurate submission of required documentation. CPT authorization typically takes 5 to 15 business days after the complete application is submitted and reviewed.

🧭 CPT Policy at CIAM
CIAM authorizes Curricular Practical Training (CPT) for international students enrolled in an Experiential Internship Course (INT501 or INT599). CPT employment is defined as “alternative work/study, internship, cooperative education, or any other type of required internship or practicum that is offered by sponsoring employers through cooperative agreements with the school.” To qualify, the work experience must be related to the student’s degree. Students can take a maximum of one INT course per term. These courses are zero-unit courses and do not count towards the Full-Time Student requirement. CPT authorizations are not automatically renewed each term, and students must apply or reapply every term.
Eligibility
Please note that CIAM does not require every student to apply for CPT; however, to successfully graduate, all students must complete INT501 during the first year and INT599 during the second year.
-
Position Requirements (for internship, employment, or volunteer work): The role must be directly related to the MBA program, such as project or people management, marketing, advertising, social media, accounting, finance, budgeting, innovation and entrepreneurship, data analysis, or other business-related administrative duties.
