Lamar University’s program follows a semester-based structure with three terms each year: Fall, Spring, and Summer, offering flexibility for students to progress at a manageable pace.

The program combines core coursework, electives, and optional leveling courses, emphasizing experiential learning to help students build practical skills, leadership, and real-world problem-solving abilities.

Onsite Frequency

F-1 students must attend bi-monthly in-person residency sessions.

Onsite sessions are typically held one full weekend (Friday evening, Saturday all day, Sunday morning) during an 8-week term, leading to a total of 12 hours of on-site contact per hybrid course (25% of total contact hours).

Onsite attendance is mandatory, and failure to attend may result in termination of F-1 student status.

While full-time for the program is 9 semester credit hours, students can take up to 12 hours in each long semester (Fall/Spring)

Students are eligible for 3 credit CPT through the entire program; they take 0.5 credit per term/ 1 credit per semester. These 3 credits are a part of the program, so it is included in the tuition already. There is no additional charge for CPT.

CPT authorization typically takes 5 to 15 business days after the complete application is submitted and reviewed.
