🧭 Day 1 CPT Policy at Tennessee Wesleyan University
Applied Learning Practicum/Internship is required for students in executive graduate programs at Tennessee Wesleyan University. To fulfill this requirement, international students have the option to obtain CPT authorization in compliance with USCIS regulations on the first day of their program.
- TWU authorizes CPT on a semester basis only, with the end date adjusted to align with the academic term for which you are applying.
- Students have the option to obtain their CPT from the orientation date, which occurs 30 days before classes begin.
- There is flexibility in the application process, allowing students to apply for CPT in the middle of the semester.
- The standard processing time for CPT at TWU is ten business days from the date of application submission.
- Students must have the proper work permission in the form of the CPT I-20 before starting employment.
- The employment is specific to the employer and dates listed on the I-20 form. If students wish to change employers, a new CPT application must be submitted. Additionally, any changes in employment status must be reported to the DSO within ten days.
- Maintaining good academic standing is crucial to remain eligible for CPT participation.

There are three semesters in a year for Day 1 CPT Programs at Tennessee Wesleyan University: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
International students are required to enroll in a minimum of two regular courses (6 credits) and one internship course (1 credit) per semester. Three credits will be completed online, while the remaining three credits will be taken during weekend sessions at TWU's Knoxville Campus.
Additional courses can be taken to complete the program within one year.
Onsite Frequency: 1 required residency session per semester. In-person sessions will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday one time per semester. Attendance at each Executive Residency class session is mandatory. Students may make up no more than one (1) residency session throughout the duration of their academic program. Missing a second residency will result in the student being dismissed from the University. A missed session will result in the student attending a make-up session and paying a $300 Residency Make-Up fee. In addition, the student may be asked for documentation from the program department providing an explanation as to why the scheduled residency session was missed. Make-Up sessions must be completed prior to the end of the term.

At Tennessee Wesleyan University, the MS in Business Analytics is a STEM program. This accolade allows eligible graduates who haven't used their OPT to extend it up to 36 months after graduation.
